![]() The only way these should be cleaned is either chemically (not necessary) or by simply dragging a piece of cardboard (like a non-coated business card, manila folder, or the type of cardboard that backs up a legal pad) between the points while squeezing them together. There is a very small coating of gold covering the contact. Secondly, the original switches are Gold Flashed. The replacement CPUs may be running the switch matrix much faster and therefore, could catch multiple open and closings in a single action. And usually just missed scoring all together (like when the Pop Bumper rams the ball back up the ABC switches. The original System 1 boards weren't really fast enough to catch these quick closures. Especially since you seem to be getting scores of a factor of the base score value (1000 = 2 X 500 etc.) A single switch closure is causing multiple closures and openings. ![]() It sounds like your switches are doing what we call "bouncing".
